Mommy Makeovers come in as many shapes and styles as there are mommies. The most common Mommy Makeover is the combination of Breast Augmentation (Breast Implants) and Tummy Tuck (Abdominoplasty), but there are many variations that allow Board Certified Plastic Surgeons to optimize your results.
Mommy Makeover Before and After Pictures
Myth 1 – Mommy Makeovers are only for Mommies
The alliteration of Mommy Makeover makes it easy to say and remember, but not all mommies need one, and not everyone who gets one is a mommy. The term Mommy Makeover refers to any combination of procedures used to improve the contours and proportions of the breasts and belly.
Aesthetic Breast Enhancement may include one or a combination of:
- Breast Augmentation
- Breast Lift
- Breast Reduction
While the core Body Work may include:
- Tummy Tuck (Abdominoplasty)
- Mini Tummy Tuck (Mini Abdominoplasty)
- Liposuction
The Mommy Makeover is a commonly used combination to restore a woman’s body proportions after childbirth; however, it is also helpful after large weight losses and congenital predispositions.
Myth 2 – Mommy Makeovers Make Breasts Bigger
Mommy Makeovers do make breasts bigger most the time; however, some mommy’s breast do not get smaller after childbirth and breast feeding. For these mommies, a Breast Reduction which includes a Breast Lift may be the better option.
Breast Reduction Before and Afters
If your breast remain large after having children, a Breast Reduction offers the opportunity to correct the size of the breasts to something more proportionate for your body. As discussed in the previous Breast Reduction post, Reduction Mammoplasty does more than make breasts smaller. Breast Reduction can reduce the symptoms associated with large breasts (neck pain, back pain, shoulder pain and rutting, and inframammary rashes), includes a Breast Lift and as demonstrated above, can improve breast symmetry too.
Myth 3 – Mommy Makeovers Mean Tummy Tuck
Mommy Makeovers often include Tummy Tucks. When the abdomen is less stretched, however, less may be needed. After pregnancy or weight loss, when minimal loose skin is leftover, a Mini Tummy Tuck (Mini Abdominoplasty) or even Liposuction may be substituted for abdominal rejuvenation for the appropriate tummy.

Myth 4 – Mommy Makeovers Must be Done in One Operation
Usually, the Mommy Makeover is performed as a single procedure. The results are certainly more dramatic, but a Mommy Makeover can be staged. There are time and recovery saving advantages to combining the Mommy Makeover into a single operation, but the recovery for each procedure is easier when separated. While there is usually a small cost savings associated with combining procedures, for some it is easier to budget one procedure at a time. This has become less of an issue with the availability of Cosmetic Surgery Financing.
Mommy Makeover Before and Afters
The Mommy Makeover above is the result of staged procedures and a combination of Breast Reduction, Tummy Tuck and Liposuction. Individually, the results are excellent; however, improving just the breasts or the tummy alone would leave the other area looking worse and more disproportionate. You can visualize this by switching the tops and bottoms of the pictures above. When the two are combined, the synergy makes both areas look better.
