Arm Lifts remain the only way to remove excess, loose and redundant arm skin. In this era of “noninvasive” and “minimally invasive” surgery, there is still no substitute. Brachioplasty is one of the most popular post-bariatric plastic surgery procedures for women and men who have lost a significant amount of weight who are left with excess upper arm skin, frequently referred to as “bat-wings”. Today, we discuss the details of Brachioplasty that you need to know if you are considering an Arm Lift.
Arm Lift Video Presentation (Brachioplasty)
Brachioplasty is designed to tighten and sculpt the upper arm and includes in a collection of cosmetic surgical procedures and approaches frequently performed after massive weight loss.
In this video segment from the latest episode of KRON 4’s Body Beautiful, we review multiple Arm Lift cases, and demonstrate what is possible. Host Janelle Marie and I reveal the versatility of Arm Lifts, who is a good candidate for the procedure and location of the brachioplasty scars. See the results yourself in the numerous Arm Lift Before and After Pictures in the video, on the blog and at DrMele.com.
Excess Armpit Fullness
In this case, the arm skin laxity extends all the way to the elbow; however, there is a disproportionate excess closer to the armpit, which is highly suspicious for misplaced breast tissue. Since breast tissue does not typically shrink like fat with weight loss, the collection may not be obvious with obesity, but is clearly identified after weight loss.
Arm Reduction not only debulks the excess soft tissues, it can be tailored to compensate for disproportionate areas as seen above,. After Brachioplasty, this patient is much happier with the appearance of her arms, and they are easier to fit into clothing, too.
