Liposuction is a cosmetic plastic surgery that uses suction to selectively remove disproportionate or undesired fat. It has an advantage over weight loss in that you can choose the areas to reduce, but there are limitations. Today’s Liposuction Video Presentation discusses the pros and cons of suction assisted lipectomy and illustrates the procedure with Liposuction Before and After Pictures.

Liposuction vs. Liposculpture
I am often asked what is the difference between Liposuction and Liposculpture. In some ways they are the same, but they represent the yin and yang of body sculpting. Liposuction is the science, while Liposculpture is the art.
Liposuction is the method, and Tumescent Liposuction is the most versatile option. First, tumescent fluid is introduced into the area to be sculpted to increase the target size, while also decreasing bruising and postoperative discomfort. Tumescent fluid contains a balanced salt solution with anesthesia and epinephrine, a magical combination that made modern liposuction possible.
The second part of Liposuction is the removal of the fat. A cannula, a hollow metal tube, is used to vacuum out the unwanted fat. The cannula is introduced via a small port to protect the skin edges. Small cannulas are used to control the rate of fat removal and help achieve a smooth result.
Liposculpture is the art of sculpting the body with Liposuction. It is not just sucking out as much fat as possible, but contouring the body to maximize aesthetics. This is especially important for women who want to preserve their curves.
Liposculpture Consultations
When considering Liposuction, consult an experienced and Board Certified Plastic Surgeon. It is the technician, not the technique that determines the outcome. The best liposuction machine cannot provide the best results without an experienced plastic surgeon who possesses a clear vision of how to reach the goal.
